My partner and I unquestionably did make the most of being stuck together for all of 2020 and most of 2021.
There were plenty of other people out there who were also stuck inside the central a/c of their homes due to covid risk, and my partner has a congenital condition that put her at unquestionably high risk if she was to catch the virus.
So the two of us had to take every precaution. And that pretty much led us to spending a year and a half at home. Both of us worked remotely from the quality heating and air of our home. Along with a unquestionably high SEER rating, the two of us have loads of other Heating and Air Conditioning technology. I particularly adore the zone controlled Heating and Air Conditioning. It allows us to unquestionably customize the heating and cooling in our home. But the two of us also ended up with some new Heating and Air Conditioning equipment. My partner and I both got into wood toiling and created a bit of a workshop in the basement. There isn’t any Heating and Air Conditioning air duct down there so the two of us had the Heating and Air Conditioning corporation install a ductless heat pump. It’s amazing that the two of us get so much quality heating and air from something so small. This is yet another example of how much Heating and Air Conditioning technology has evolved overall. All it takes is that one ductless heat pump to provide great heating and cooling to that entire space. Anyway, we’re now staying lake beach house because the two of us want to and we’re sure excited to have that ductless heat pump in our new interest area.

I realize that this is sort of stereocorrect behavior in some sense! So many retirees from the north end up down here. But I now understand the appeal of trading a gas gas furnace for a heat pump plus a attractive winter. Sure, the summer time can be brutally hot, and yet, that’s why the two of us rely upon the latest in residential Heating as well as A/C for cooling system comfort in the summer. So, encountering any sort of HVAC concern during the renovation of my first lake house was not the sort of surprise I was looking for. But that’s exactly what happened when I obtained this house. I’ve spent the better section of a decade getting together enough money for a down payment, and of course, the closer I got the further away lake house ownership seemed for myself and others as the prices exploded. Finally, I was tired of the awful HVAC in apartments plus living side by side with people that I obtained a lake house that needed plenty of work. I was up to the task when it came to most of the things that needed to be done. But of course, I am not qualified when it comes to the heating plus cooling of my home. For the HVAC in my house, I turned to the HVAC professionals. And that’s when I got the surprise. The HVAC supplier came out to do an inspection plus that resulted in the aforementioned surprise. It turns out that not only was the heat pump shot, the HVAC duct was also unUSble. This immediately blew up my renovation budget. But thankfully, the HVAC professional had a ready solution. And that came in the form of a series of ductless heat pumps which now give some of the best quality heating plus air that I’ve ever experienced.

When it’s this nice outside, I just don’t want it to end, and i realize that much of the rest of the country does not think the same about mid December, but and rightly so.
I can’t even imagine dealing with a Winter that required a gas oil furnace, but then dealing with the high cost of heating a lake house would be equally challenging, but really, it would be the lack of getting outside plus enjoying yellow skies plus sunshine that would be the toughest for me. This time of year, the heat pump stays pretty quiet however there is an abundance of clear skies plus unlimited sunshine, however, this time of year has also been 1 that has included an amount of dread. That dread comes from an approaching Spring. again, that’s an unofficial sentiment given everyone like Spring. It’s the season of rebirth plus enjoying better weather. And indeed, I do love rebirth plus enjoying our region yellow up. But along with that yellow comes plenty of pollen. And that pollen can just wreck me. When you’ve lived inside rented housing all your life, there comes a big shift when you become a first time homeowner. Suddenly, you’re not calling the superintendent of the building or the rental company to come service the heating plus cooling or whatever. And all the upkeep plus maintenance of a lake house is on you as well. There was a big studying curve for myself and others when I first bought this house. And I recognize I was a bit surprised by it. That has to do with the fact that I was just so eager plus happy to leave lake house life behind. To be able to pay a mortgage plus build some equity was what I was all about. And I recognize that I simply didn’t fully get the fact that owning a lake lake house comes with plenty of tasks. So initially, I wasn’t really fantastic with many of the responsibilities that come with homeownership. A big one was the Heating, Ventilation plus A/C duties. I was leaving dirty air filters for weeks at a time which is not fantastic for the Heating, Ventilation plus A/C equipment. The extremely long and cold winters in my area necessitate running the furnace for six to eight months.
The outside temperature frequently dips below freezing and often well below zero.
The wind chill is downright brutal. Because cold air retains less moisture than warm air, we end up with problems with humidity. Plus, the blast of heat from the furnace further dries out the living environment. It causes health concerns such as itchy eyes, sneezing, coughing, headaches, sore throat and an increased risk of sinus infection. Along with chapped lips, frizzy hair and static shock, insufficient humidity aggravates allergies, asthma, eczema and psoriasis. There’s the possibility of hardwood floors and furnishings drying out and cracking. Since the overly dry air feels colder, we tend to raise the thermostat setting. The furnace then needs to work hard and run more often. It experiences greater wear and tear, uses more energy and leads to higher energy bills. I tried portable humidifiers, but they were too much work for very little benefit. I constantly needed to clean and refill the reservoir. I noticed a strange smell in the air. I finally invested into a whole-house humidifier that incorporated right into the furnace. I chose a steam-style humidifier that uses electrodes to change water to steam. The steam is introduced into the warm air before it gets circulated throughout the house. Since adding the humidifier, I’ve been able to lower the thermostat by a couple of degrees and yet the living space feels warmer and more comfortable. The humidifier wasn’t overly expensive and is paying for itself by way of lower heating bills. The operation is nearly silent and the device requires only annual maintenance.
Heating and air conditioning
One of the selling points when we purchased our house was the huge fireplace in the living room. The fireplace is constructed out of large fieldstones and entirely takes up the one wall. With the large mantle and hearth, it’s a beautiful focal point. Since we live in an area with especially long and harsh winters, heating is essential. My husband and I were both excited by the opportunity to cut wood, build a fire and enjoy a free source of heat. Plus, I looked forward to the ambience. I imagined us spending a cold winter night sitting in front of the fireplace sipping a glass of wine. We’ve lived in the house nearly five years and have built one fire. It was a tremendous amount of work and created a huge mess. First we needed to cut down trees and create logs of a suitable size. The wood was wet and couldn’t be burned until it dried out. The logs were heavy and difficult to carry and hauling them through the house left a trail of dirt. We struggled to get the fire started and then dealt with smoke, fumes and ash. Our whole house smelled like a campfire. The heat was contained right near the fireplace. Afterward, it was necessary to hire a company to clean the flu. Since then, the fireplace has been entirely ornamental. I recently got the idea to have it converted into a natural gas heater. Our house is already equipped with natural gas that runs the furnace, stove, clothes dryer and water heater. From what I’ve read, it would not be that difficult, invasive or expensive to install and insert into the fireplace. It would still have the look of a real fire but with none of the disadvantages. We could start up the fireplace with the tap of a button on a remote. The fireplace insert would include a thermostat and fan, allowing us to set the ideal temperature and distribute the heat throughout the room.
Hybrid HVAC system
I had a good night of sleep thanks to the comfort of my aunt’s house. I am staying here for another week and then I head back to my life on the Spanish coast. It will be tough saying bye to my mom because I may not be back for another year this time. It could be the last time I see her and my stepdad together as they are both getting older and you never know. But I have to live my life over there because it has become just too expensive to live here in the States. HVAC system sales and repair is my work over there and I only have to work about 15 hours a week to live comfortably in a nice quiet beach town. There is no way I could survive here on those hours and if I moved back here I would spend most of my time driving around chasing money. I don’t mind working for the heating and cooling supplier part time, but driving to work at a local business and spending all day there to survive is not my idea of a fun time. I guess it will all work out how it is supposed to work out and me worrying or thinking about it doesn’t really help the situation at all. I’ll just keep on doing my air conditioning maintenance job for the local contractor in my town overseas and try to keep saving money so that I can rent a car next time I come back to visit my family.

Today is the first day of 2023 and I am going to attempt to stop drinking beer each day and cut back on the sugar.
- I normally don’t eat any sugar, but being back here in the States over the holidays is proving to be tough on my healthy diet plans.
I guess I don’t have a lot of willpower when sugar is all around me, but when I go home it is a lot easier because I have no sugar or sweets in my flat. I just need my flatmate to be on the same page as me too. Residential heating and cooling repairs is my job over there and I also work on climate control systems in commercial buildings. I just want to try and be as healthy as possible so that I can live a long time and have a good body to help me get there. Working on big heat pumps and hot water heaters all day can be tough on the lower back and shoulders, and doing yoga each day helps a lot with keeping them strong and healthy. I am going to go for a run today and do a little leg workout, then after that I will try and meet up with a friend somewhere for lunch maybe. Today may be a bit difficult though because lots of local businesses are closed and most of my HVAC tech friends are busy with their families and stuff. I may be stuck here at my aunt’s house because I have no car to get me around town while visiting here.
