She was sixteen, and I thought you had to be at least twenty-one to be an HVAC technician. I was going to question her, but she kissed me on the cheek and said she was going to bed. She nearly floated up the stairs. The next morning, I asked who her date was. She told me it was a new boy she met at her friend’s house. He was her best friend’s cousin and he lived in the next city. He had just graduated from high school and was going to school to be an HVAC technician. I started doing the math and knew he was a little more than two years older than our daughter. My husband was almost five years older than me, but she was only sixteen. She told me she wouldn’t do anything until she got her college degree and became a lawyer, which made me happy. The next ten years flew by, and I knew she was still dating the young man she met at her friend’s house that night. He was now an accomplished HVAC technician and he was working toward his own HVAC company. One evening our daughter came home and told me she was engaged. Paul had asked her to marry him. She reminded me how she said she was marrying the HVAC guy all those years ago, and it was finally happening.

The owner of the HVAC company she had been working for, tried to talk her out of opening another HVAC company by offering her a second site that he wanted to open. She smiled and told him thank you for everything he had done for her. She was ready to spread her wings, and that meant she was going to try to be the owner of the biggest HVAC company in our area. She gave him a run for his money, and when he was ready to retire, she bought his HVAC company. She is not only the first female HVAC technician, but the first female to own an HVAC company and have three separate locations in our state.

The Wintertide began in the middle of October when the temps dropped abruptly plus that chilly rain started, plus it has been getting chilly ever since.
I think though the people I was with and I are finally near the end of it plus things will start heating up again. Summer will be here before the people I was with and I assume it plus I will be out in the sand once again playing our favorite sport, just prefer I have been for the past 30 or more years. My heating device is going to get a split soon plus that means it will be time to wash the HEPA filter for our a/c unit plus get it ready for summer. I will contact someone to come out within the next few weeks to take a look at our system plus make sure it is all nice to go for the sizzling weather. I haven’t turned on our a/c unit since August of last year plus I want to get a cooling tech out here to take a look at it plus service it if it needs it so there are no surprises when summer time comes. The worst thing is when you turn it on in the middle of August plus nothing however hot air blows out. This happened to me before plus it took 4 weeks to get the Heating plus Air Conditioning worker out because a lot of other people had troubles with their a/c systems in their locales. This year I will be ahead of the game.

I think there is something wrong on their end because our cellphone gets texts. Maybe the bank girl put in the wrong cellphone number when I changed our number last time I was in there talking to him. I will get a good evening of sleep tonight as well as get in there in the afternoon as well as knock it out. Then I have to go to the dentist as well as get this darn tooth fixed so I can eat. My son built a wooden rocking chair for me for my birthday.
I was so surprised with the gift, that all I could do was cry.
I asked where he bought the wooden rocking chair, as I ran my fingers over the mirror finish and gently sat on the tufted seat. When he told me he made it, I cried even harder. I asked him what made him make a museum piece rocking chair for me? He remembered me telling him how much I wanted a wooden rocking chair when he was little, but never got it. He said that when he realized he had a gift for making furniture, the first piece of furniture he was going to create would be a wooden rocking chair. He and his wife sat on the sofa and watched while I rocked in the wooden rocking chair. He came over and asked if I was please. Pleased? I didn’t ever want to get out of it. I told him the only thing that would make me happier was if I had a grandbaby to rock to sleep. My daughter-in-law asked me if I could wait about eight months for the grandbaby? At first i didn’t realize what she had said, but it finally sunk in. My son built me a wood rocking chair so I could rock my grandbaby to sleep. I jumped up and hugged them both, and told them they could never move out unless they were leaving that baby with me, and they laughed. I didn’t sit in any other chair but my rocking chair, once they gave it to me.

Last week, I had a tree limb fall on my roof. There were no storms or wind to blame for the fallen limb. The only reason for the falling tree limb was my foolish way of procrastinating. I knew the tree was diseased, and I had been losing limbs for a year. I should have known the limb would be the next part of the tree to fall. Because I didn’t take care of the tree, I had to look for a local roofing company. The house wasn’t compromised, but I had to have the roof refinished. I called the roofing company and asked if they could repair the roof before it rained again. The first roofing company told me they were booked until the following spring, which was over six months away. I found another local roofing company and asked about their schedule. They had the same waiting list, and I was getting frustrated. I talked to my brother and asked if he knew of a local roofing company that could do the work on my roof. He had a general contracting business, and I was sure he could help me. He said he had a roofer on his roster, and he could ask, but he wanted to know if I had the tree cut down? He said that I was just inviting another disaster if I didn’t get the tree cut down soon. Winter was almost here, and we had a lot of wind in our area. I heard what he was saying and told him I would get the tree cut in the next week, but I still needed to have the roofing done.

Another advantage of the boiler is the opportunity for a snow melt system. Just like inside the home, we have a system of tubing concealed beneath the pavement of the driveway and walkways. The snow melt system activates when sensing moisture combined with temperature drop. It automatically melts away snow and ice, eliminating the need to shovel, plow or figure out snow removal. It’s extremely helpful. I don’t need to spend hours outdoors in terrible weather conditions. There is no worry over slipping and falling on icy pavement.

I like to clean my house from top to bottom during the middle of the winter. In the spring, there is simply too much to do outside. In January, when the outdoor temperature drops down into the negative digits, I’m trapped inside. There’s plenty of time to do a very thorough job. I needed to figure out a way to get the heat off the ceiling and down closer to the floor. Ceiling fans provided the perfect solution. A bit of research showed me a wide variation in designs, sizes and prices of ceiling fans. I was able to find models that include a light and suit my decor. My husband and I handled the installation as a DIY project. We run the ceiling fans clockwise in the winter to create an updraft and circulate warm air around the room. This has significantly improved comfort, allowed a lower thermostat setting and trimmed our heating costs. In the summer, with the flick of a switch, we reverse the direction of the ceiling fans to create a downdraft and a cooling breeze.
