For the past several months I’ve been applying to jobs left and right.
I don’t have enough job security in my current position, and I’m looking for a better paycheck.
I’ve been perusing the papers and all of the online job postings for a new opportunity. I have to say, the Outlook has been pretty bleak. Was extremely excited when I finally got a call back for a promising new marketing job. The company stated that they were in a time of rapid growth and we’re expanding their marketing team to fill their brand new office building. I was excited about all of this. Mostly, I was stoked at the chance to work in a new and therefore clean building. What I didn’t expect was that’s their quote new building was in an extremely old historic building. The building had all original fixtures, including the HVAC system. This central heating and cooling system had to be at least 35 years old. The boiler down in the basement looks like it had seen a few turns of the century. The air ducts where sagging so low that you had to shimmy beneath them. The thermostat was so ancient that it broke in my hand when I tried to adjust the air conditioning system. Whenever the AC finally engage, you could certainly tell that it was working because a plume of dust came shooting into the room. Unless they’re planning on updating the air quality equipment in this office space, I don’t think that I can work here. I’m desperate for a new job, but I’m not desperate for a new respiratory disease.
