Have you ever given a washable type of air filter a try? I have, and at first I wasn’t going to give it a watchful eye.
But I ultimately decided to because I wanted to go and try something different after using throwaway air filters all my life in heating and cooling systems.
In my circle of buddies, washable air filters were all people were talking about. A few people were spreading it around as a life hack, and were saying that it was much easier to use a washable air filter than to use a cheaper air filter. I thought about it and I was wondering if using one of the washable air filters was worth the price, or would it be cheaper to continue to buy the disposable air filters? There’s only one way to find out, and so I went down to my local heating and air con business to compare some prices. What I found was that those washable air filters were genuinely a little bit more pricey, however this was no big deal because they could be used again and again. I decided that I would go ahead and give it a try, and so I picked one up while I was there at the heating and air con store. When I put it in there, a few weeks later it got dirty and I realized it was time to wash it. I was kind of sad about cleaning it because I was sad that I may damage it, but it was far easier than I had thought it to be. All I had to do was take a vacuum cleaner and clean all the dirt out of it and it was as good as new, and then I put it back because it was reusable. These are nice, and I want to continue using these instead of the disposable air filters.

I’ve had the most disgusting thing happen as of recently, as I have an infestation of big cockroaches in our ducts. So why is it important what kind of bug they are? Well it’s because if you know anything about these cockroaches you know that they are horribly invasive and can quickly create an infestation in your crib if you are not careful. If you see one I bet you there are a lot more. I do not know how these little things got into our ducts and started breeding, however I do feel they need to go, and go very quickly. There were several options available on the market to get rid of them, everything from sprays to poisons, however I wasn’t going to deal with all that, I was just going to hire an expert and have them do all the work. Since it is difficult for me to even reach our ducts, this is the best option. I called our pest control person and she came out and sprayed our ducts and then cleaned them out thoroughly. Once she was finished, I had a heating and AC guy come out and inspect the ductwork to make sure that they were clean. I asked the worker and he told me that I should be fine using our heating and a/c unit. After finally getting rid of them using the exterminator, I was so happy to have our heating and cooling system back again. The moment I saw just a few of them in our home I wanted to evacuate and burn the whole place down. Maybe it sounds a little extreme, however I can’t stand the sight of roaches.

One morning, I noticed that I started to see pests crawling around in our house.
It all started with one that crossed the bedroom floor while I was making breakfast, and then there was another encounter where I saw one that was on our sofa while I was watching TV.
Then I saw another one on the floor while in the room, and I started to freak out because what I thought was just one incident of a bug getting in from outdoors was turning into me starting to see many bugs inside our home. I started looking all over our home to see if I could find where these things were coming from, however no matter where I looked I couldn’t find any spots that showed where they were emerging from. So eventually I just gave up and I hoped they would just go away, but the concern only got worse. I started seeing a lot of them and then I started noticing a line of them crawling up our walls. I followed the trail and noticed that they were coming out of the air ducts. That’s when it hit me, they were up in the air con unit! I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to call an air con specialist or hire an exterminator. I live in the far south, and so sporadically we have these massive insects, cockroaches to be exact, that come in from outside. They’re horrible and nasty and I wanted to get rid of them as soon as possible. I called our heating and air con specialist first because I decided it would definitely be best for me to confirm that I did have an infestation in our air vents. The cooling pro came out and took a look and confirmed I did have pests in our air vent and that is where they were coming from. He suggested that I should have a bug guy come and get rid of them first, and then afterwards he could come back out and do a cleaning, and so I agreed to do this.

I think they will work very well, however how do they really work? This was a question I asked my local heating and cooling friend when he came out to service an air con issue I was having. I told him that I had recently switched to the HEPA filters because of how good they are in the home. He explained to me exactly how these HEPA filters work; he said that they have a bunch of little fibers and that they are responsible for catching all the dust and debris. These papers are so small that they are able to catch even the smallest pieces of dust that would otherwise make their way through. If this dust and bacteria were to make its way through, it would then be flowing around in your air, which you would be breathing in. However, as soon as the good filter stops them, it prevents them from getting into the air, and therefore it helps to keep you calm as well. Which is why there are several benefits to using this HEPA filter. When he explained this to me, it finally all made sense and I understood how the HEPA filters work, and I was pretty astounded by the technology. It was so good to have a new HEPA filter to use, because they really did give me very good air quality.

It’s time for me to clean the air filters, as my other filters I have to change every month.
I feel that most people only have to clean out their filters every four months, however I have to change my filter every month because of how dirty it is here.
I started using those HEPA filters because I have noticed that it has improved the air quality significantly. Ever since I saw our air quality improve, I have wanted to continue to have a better lifestyle by continuing to use these kinds of HEPA filters. I can’t believe I used old disposable air filters for so long when a HEPA is apparently the superior choice. There was only one problem, right when I really needed the filters, the AC dealer was out of them. I have become used to buying them every other month, and I should have bought three of them because I was making a mistake only buying one at a time when I needed them. Well something great happened, those HEPA filters went on sale! The issue was that because they went on sale, everybody was running to get some and there were people fighting over these filters. Sadly for me, I was one of the last people to make it to the heating and cooling corp, and so I was unable to get my hands on one of those, however I still really need a HEPA filter. I was going to look elsewhere to see if I could try to find one. And after searching five more heating and a/c dealerships, I finally found one!

So I did something dumb, I did something my lady told me that I shouldn’t do and I got pretty badly hurt because I didn’t listen to her.
What a bad thing I did, I went and I tried to repair our own air conditioning unit.
I know, I feel it’s a really dumb idea and I should not have attempted it. When it comes to heating and cooling, apparently it should be left to the pros. However, I didn’t want to wait to have a heater and air con lady come out here for more than one reason; It is costly to have a heating, ventilation and air con unit repaired, and the second reason that I didn’t want to have a heating and cooling expert to come out here was because the heating, ventilation and air con businesses were all booked up and I knew it would be at least six weeks before I’d be able to get someone out here. So I decided it would be best for me to go and try to fix it myself. I told my lady about my idea, and she didn’t want me to do it, however I was confident in my abilities to do it. I had no heating or a/c training whatsoever, and I didn’t bother to read or do research like I was supposed to, and in my mind it was the correct idea. Really, I was lucky that I didn’t totally damage our Heating, Ventilation, and a/c plan by attempting this. Although I did manage to get hurt, it was enough to tell me that I had no clue at all what I was doing. I think I’ll just go ahead and call the experts and wait for them to do it right.

I’m really thrilled because our new HEPA filters came in the mail this week. I’d ordered some air filters online a few months ago and now I finally got them, and I can’t wait to use these new air filters. These are those HEPA filters, which are different from the other air filters that I normally use. I now have a filter that is much better at grabbing, and getting rid of particles and bacteria that are found in the indoor air, which is what I like about having a HEPA filter. Because I live in a more rural area, I decided to go ahead and buy some of these online because I’m not close to a heating store. The entire time after I bought them I was eagerly awaiting their arrival, and the reason I really needed them so soon was because the old filter that I have in our central heating and A/C unit was really dirty and I needed to have it changed out if I wanted to be able to use it. I could tell that it was having an impact on our indoor air quality and I wanted to get our air quality good once again. So when our HEPA arrived, I was excited to have it. It was the first time for me ordering these air filters online, however it was a really wonderful experience. I thought of more than two other heating and air con products I could also order online, which will save me from having to go all the way into town to buy them.

I’ve had my fun. That is exactly how I feel about the cooling in our house. I don’t think it’s asking too much if you just pay attention to the thermostat and the HVAC system. If we aren’t careful, our summer utility bills can become extremely high. Simply put, it doesn’t happen anymore. I have pleaded and made efforts to persuade my family. It seems to go in one ear and out the other with children. But even my wife, who concurs with my thesis, has been known to overuse the cooling. I’ve pleaded for assistance with the air conditioning in family meetings and even one-on-one visits for years. Nothing alters, however, and by August my utility bills have skyrocketed as a result of no one else paying attention to the thermostat but me. That alters this year. It’s already changed, in actuality. Just yet, though, my family is unaware of it. Late last fall, when the HVAC professional came to service the heating, I had a smart thermostat installed. It goes without saying that there isn’t much demand for heating down here, so I’m not worried about that. I am aware that I can lock out anyone else who tries to use the manual thermostat with the smart thermostat, though. Now that March has arrived, I can’t wait to witness the first instance when someone tries to turn the air conditioning down but is unable to. So that I can record the event, I almost want to install a video camera. The smart thermostat can only be used in manual mode going forward because I am the only one with the code. I made an effort to convince my family, but I think I’ll just change our bad HVAC practices from now on.

It’s pleasant to feel this way now that spring has arrived.
Although it’s still February, spring has officially arrived in this part of the world.
As I write this in my home’s central air conditioning, I can see green outside my window. Additionally, it’s one of the first times the heat pump has turned on in weeks. Today’s high was in the mid 80s, and I’m now experiencing cooling to bring the temperature down to a comfortable level for tonight’s sleep. So in a way, it’s already air conditioning season. That normally gives me a lot of anxiety and makes me go to the pharmacy. Seasonal allergies are common, and they go hand in hand with air conditioning and new growth. My struggle with this has lasted a very long time. Tree and grass pollen tends to make me extremely sick. But this February doesn’t worry me. In fact, I’m somewhat eager to discover the full potential of the home air purification system. I had been saving money to buy an air purifier. It is one that is integrated into the HVAC system, so I don’t have to move it all over the house. A further benefit of this air purifier is that there are no filters to maintain. But this device completely eliminates all contaminants from indoor air. I won’t have to worry about pollen floating around in my home’s interior air, then. The house will at least now serve as a haven where my respiratory system won’t be attacked nearly constantly. The indoor air quality has already improved dramatically thanks to this air purifier. I’m astonished by how clean and fresh our indoor air is these days. I’m now prepared for spring.

I was aware that my child was intelligent.
But man, before he left for college, he sure was a pill. The young person was just so distinctive. He used to be constantly studying, so there was a time when I couldn’t make him leave the central air conditioning. But once he had secured the scholarships and his admission to the college, he was already checked out at home. It appeared as though he set his own rules, or at least believed he did. He had to follow our rules if he wanted to live in our home with central air conditioning, but I wasn’t trying to dash his hard-earned confidence. He did, and more so than not, we relished his senior year. But as soon as my son finally attended his preferred school and moved into a dorm with radiant heating, he just started to thrive. He seemed to have an endless capacity to pursue his passion once he had discovered it. As he was just killing it with his grades, that is where all the smarts came in. He’s a sophomore now, and during his winter break at home he ended up teaching me about HVAC technology. This led me to invest in HVAC technology, which should significantly reduce my summertime air conditioning expenses. Regarding the smart thermostat, my son explained it to me in detail. He presented a compelling case for having a smart thermostat and was very knowledgeable about them. In fact, it was so bad that I made a call to the HVAC company to install the smart thermostat. Since we don’t require a lot of heating, I haven’t yet seen what this thing is capable of. Yet all that air conditioning will soon be obsolete as summer approaches. I’ll save a lot of money if my kid is correct, I wager.
