Last week, my group and I ended up winning a trivia contest at a bar.
We owe it to our buddy, Charlie, who knew the answer to a random question about the history of air conditioners. This was one of the weirdest things that I have ever heard in my life. Charlie knows plenty about many things, although I never in a million years thought that he would know anything at all about the history of air conditioners. We just kind of stopped and stared at him in awe and disbelief. At that point, our trivia team was down and we wondered if we’d answer incorrectly and be eliminated. When I saw what the question was, I thought for sure that we were out. It was a bummer for us too, because we had been doing so well in the competition series. Then, all of a sudden, Charlie rang in. At first, I thought it was a mistake. I thought that he had accidentally pushed his buzzer and that the two of us were completely out of luck. Then, he truly confidently answered the question and he knew exactly who the father of the new air conditioner was! I suppose that our jaws hit the floor when he answered that question respectfully, however later on, after the two of us had won the competition, the two of us were all asking Charlie how in the world he had known the answer to that question. It turned out that his dad was an HVAC professional when he was growing up, and he used to read all about heating and cooling systems for fun back when he was a kid.

Our home air conditioner broke down during the summer at our house! This was actually one of the worst things that has ever happened to us at our loft during the summer.
I can’t live without central air conditioning or any length of time at all.
I have a medical condition that makes me swell up around my joints if I get overheated. Having a central air conditioner that is in nice working order is truly important to my family for our health. Also, I have a child with asthma and other respiratory concerns as well, making quality indoor air even more important. It must be good. Anyway, this summer came with an intense heat wave. The weather had just not been cooperating truly well around here and the temperature just kept going up and up. We were running the central air conditioner just about all the time, so one day, the two of us noticed that even though that air conditioner was on, the house was not cooling down like it should have been. I diagnosed the control unit, and sure enough the temperature on the digital programmable control unit was going up, not down! We weren’t sure what the problem was, so my spouse called an acquaintance of his who is a heating and cooling professional. He told us over the phone what he thought the problem was and he also told us how to maintain it!

Don’t ever tell my husband Dan that he’s a great HVAC professional.
He gets so stuck on himself that he’s impossible to live with a lot of the time.
I constantly make fun of him and tell him that his head is so big it won’t fit in the doorframe. He says that’s not true. He’s so annoying whenever he gets something in his head, like the thought that he is the world’s greatest HVAC professional. I mean, he actually is a great HVAC professional, but he’s pretty conceited about the fact and that makes him annoying. I love my husband. He easily is one of the best HVAC professionals in town. He’s been working at the same HVAC business for the past few years now. Almost everyone is constantly telling him that he is one of the greatest HVAC professionals that they have ever had. Compliments flow constantly from his customers, whether they are residential or commercial, and he wins the award for top sales and for best HVAC professional at his dealership. I suppose that all of this positive reinforcement is nice for him, but it also goes to his head occasionally. I constantly tell people that they should not ever tell Dan that he’s good at his work. He already knows it, and talking to him about it can only make the way that he acts even worse.

My brother acts conceited all the time and that includes when he is at work! He has always been this way for some reason. I know that part of the problem is the fact that he is a pretty nice looking guy. Attracting girls has never been an issue, that’s for sure. I don’t know why this is, but he’s one of those guys who seems to have everything come easily for him. I love this sibling, but I have to say he is annoying when it comes to thinking way too highly of himself occasionally! I know that’s just what happens when you live a life where almost everyone seems to know you are just a gift to the entire world. Maybe that’s why he thinks so, too. I mean, I know if I had people telling me all the time that I am the greatest, I would start to suppose it, too! Anyway, my brother is an HVAC professional. I know I shouldn’t think about that, but I can’t help it. I know that sibling rivalry easily does exist, and I experience it with this sibling. I suppose that I might be jealous about his great work as an HVAC professional, too.
My sibling acts conceited
The air conditioner pump stopped working at the theater when we were there to see a play back in the summer. Who would’ve expected this to happen? I have never been inside of a location enjoying a play before, when the whole location was filled with smoke. Honestly, it was a little bit startling, even though we were on the ground floor and it was easy to get out of the building. There were a lot of people there to see the play, so the crowded circumstances made it a little bit more startling. Anyway, it turned out that there wasn’t a fire in the theater. It was the middle of the summer and we had been having some sizzling weather, so, during the show, they had the central air conditioner turned on as high as it would go. It turned out that it was a little bit too high! A pump in the air conditioner burned out during the play, creating this enormous plumage of smoke. The smoke came through the ventilation ducts and started filling the theater. That is when everybody panicked! It was interesting to see how people reacted when they saw smoke filling the building! Some people got up and ran out as fast as they could, and helped older people and children to get to the doors. I know that kind of thing happens sometimes. You just never know how you will react in that style of a situation until you are in it yourself.
