I do some of my best thinking at the beauty salon. I work in marketing, but make most of my money through investments. I like to sink some capital into small businesses for a percentage of the ownership. This is always a risk, because if the small business fails then I lose my investment money. But when it pays off, I can make a lot of money quickly. Anyway, I got my bright idea while getting my toes painted at the beauty salon. I was relaxing in the chair, with my feet in the warm bath. It was perfect, because I was lucky enough to get the pedicure chair located directly under the air vent. With my feet nice and warm and the rest of my body cold from the chilly A/C, I got a brilliant idea. This was the best chair in the salon because of that air vent… So what if there was an air vent over every chair? That would mean every chair was “the best chair in the salon.” After my toes were painted and dried I walked to the manager’s office and pitched her my idea about the air vents. The manager didn’t have enough money for that, because remodeling the HVAC system and the ductwork would cost several thousand dollars. I told her that I would invest money into the salon and pay for all the HVAC work personally, if I was made a part owner. I am still waiting to hear back from her, but if she passes on it then I will just take my brilliant air vent idea to another salon!

Radiant heated flooring can be a luxurious and wonderful addition to any house. When my wife and I were remodeling our home, we thought about adding radiant heated flooring to the master bedroom and bathroom. We also considered adding radiant heated flooring to the rest of the house. We spoke with a contractor to get all of the information we could before we made our decisions. We had a lot of questions about the materials, process, and costs. Electric radiant heated flooring was one of the systems that was the least inexpensive. There are electric heating mats installed under the flooring. The radiant heating warms up the tile or flooring located above the special mats or grids. The contractor assured my wife and I that it could be affordable to add electric radiant heat to the house. Our first remodeling project started off in our master bedroom and bathroom. I’m really glad that we started our project in this part of the house, because we ended up with radiant heated flooring in that area only. If we had started remodeling the living room or the kitchen, we would have never been able to put radiant heated flooring in our bedroom or master bathroom. The flooring costs were adding up quickly. When we remodeled the rest of the house, we decided to go with radiators instead. We found some really nice radiators that are low to the floor and blend in nicely with the rest of the furniture, but I really would have liked to put heated flooring throughout the entire place.

It’s hard to manage a huge property with lots of apartments, but I do the best that I can.
I have a staff that helps in the office. I have a couple of leasing agents that help to show apartments to tenants that are looking for a new place to live. I also have an assistant manager that helps me balance the books and keep all of the rental payments in order. I have two people that work as groundskeepers in the morning. Each morning they have to get up at 5:00 a.m. or as soon as the sun comes up and clean the property. They sweep all of the sidewalks and get rid of any trash. They make sure that the area near the garbage cans is clean. I also have an entire maintenance staff. The maintenance supervisor has three people that work under him. They provide lots of repairs to the property and the apartments. They handle lots of different problems from plumbing to heating and cooling repairs. They don’t handle any repairs regarding the pool. We have a separate company that handles all of the pool repairs and maintenance. The company comes to the property on Mondays to clean and service the pool. Last weekend there was a problem with the pool heating system. There was no heat in the pool on Saturday or Sunday and a lot of people complained. I wasn’t going to contact the pool maintenance company on the weekend when they were going to be there on Monday already. I knew it would be easier to wait until my regularly scheduled appointment.

When I was starting my daycare, I wanted to find a building that was brand new with the best heating and cooling system and brand new carpeting.
I quickly learned that was not going to be possible when I saw the costs for the buildings.
I had to settle on an older building that was in the eastern part of the city. I was just outside of the neighborhood. It was a good place for the daycare and real estate prices were cheap. I actually got a lot of calls when I put up a sign outside that said I was going to be opening in a few weeks. I had to call someone to help me with all of the repairs that needed to be made. There were a lot of problems with the building. One of the repairs that were important to make was with the ductwork. The ductwork repairs were significant, because the building was old. I wanted to make sure that the building was equipped with a state of the art HVAC system and an air filtration system. The repairs were definitely more expensive than I expected. The contractor kept adding more and more fees to the estimate. By the time we were done, I had spent more than $100,000 to repair the building. My budget for the repairs was $75,000, so I blew the budget out of the water. Luckily I had a lot of clients sign up for daycare services before we even opened the doors. I knew it wasn’t going to take very long to recover all of the money I spent to make the place nice.

The weather forecast was for 7 days of rain.
I was dreading those 7 days.
The first couple of days we were only going to have a 50% chance of rain and the amount of rain was going to be less than an eighth of an inch. The three days after that were forecasted with a 100% chance of rain and the amount of rain would be 1-2 inches. Those three days of rain caused a lot of problems in the city and some minor problems in our home. Outside in the neighborhood, there were a lot of trees knocked down. The rain saturated the ground and the smallest amount of wind was toppling some pretty large trees. Power was out in the neighborhood for 18 hours while it was raining. Inside of my home, I had damage on the roof. There was a spot on the roof that was soft and it started leaking after the second day of rain. I was worried that the roof was going to fall into the house. The rain flooded into the garage and we had to turn off the HVAC unit. Our HVAC unit is low to the ground. The garage filled up with 6 in of water and the HVAC unit had to be shut off for safety reasons. It took a long time for everyone in the neighborhood to get over the problems that happened with that storm. It was easily one of the worst storms that I can remember occurring during the month of march. We don’t usually have that much rain.

All of the technicians are skilled and knowledgeable and they provide fast and efficient repairs and replacement solutions. When the furnace needs a good tune up later this fall, I know exactly who I will call.

My uncle died a couple of months ago and my Mom finally got all of his stuff delivered to her house.
She has to go through about eight boxes of things that were at the nursing home.
My mom asked me to come over to the house to go through the boxes with her. It honestly did not sound like a fun afternoon, but I was curious about the things that my uncle kept in those boxes. I told my mom that I would pick up a couple of pizzas on the way over to the house. I stopped at one of my mom’s favorite Italian restaurants. I picked up one pizza with just cheese, because my mom doesn’t eat any meat. I also picked up my favorite type of pizza which is ham and pineapple. A lot of people think it is gross to put pineapple on pizza, but I happen to think that it tastes delicious. I also got extra cheese on my pizza. When I got to my mom’s house it was around 3:00 in the afternoon and the sun was still at the highest point. My mom’s air conditioner was struggling to keep up with the indoor temperatures. I wanted to sit outside where the wind was blowing, but my mom wanted to go through the boxes while we ate our pizza. My mom really needs a new air conditioner. I might get one for her this year for Christmas when they are on sale because it is after the summer season. I know she will never buy one on her own.

Throughout the week I have to deal with a variety of problems.
Some of my problems come from customers and some of those problems come from the machines.
I work as an HVAC repairman and Monday through Friday I have to work on repairs and installation jobs. I get a lot of headaches during the time of the year when it is allergy season. My allergies are really bad and I react to pollen, cut grass, and several different ragweed species. I had an HVAC repair on Tuesday and my allergies were terrible. I think that there was something in the customer’s yard that was triggering the allergy. I kept sneezing over and over and over again. I got a headache after sneezing 50 or 60 times. I tried to put a mask over my nose and mouth to keep the allergens away, but that did not help much at all. I contacted my boss to see if I could get someone to trade with me and he told me to power through. I was very aggravated and upset with my boss that he would not send someone else, but at least he let me go home after I was done with the repair job. I went back to my house and took a couple of allergy pills. I turned on the air purifier. I fell asleep on my bed and I woke up feeling much better. The air purifier really helps. I don’t know how I would be able to survive during allergy season if I didn’t have some way to clean the air inside of my home.

My wife and I took the kids to my parents house for the weekend so we could go away to celebrate our anniversary.

My wife had all of our bags packed and ready to go. I managed to get my boss to let me go at 2:00 instead of 5:00. My wife was very surprised when I got home at 2:30. She wasn’t expecting me until 6:30. The traffic in the afternoon is a lot worse than the traffic was at 2:00. We even made it to my mom and dad’s house in a pretty good time too. My wife and I were off to our romantic weekend away before I was supposed to be off work at 5:00. I was excited to get to our hotel early. We weren’t planning on having dinner at the hotel, but I thought we could sneak downstairs for something special. When we checked into the hotel, the front desk clerk was very nice and accommodating. He explained exactly how to get to our hotel room and asked if we needed help with the bags. My wife and I had some problems with our HVAC unit. We couldn’t get the air conditioner to turn on at all. The heat option was working, but it didn’t seem like the air conditioner button was working at all. When we complained about the AC problems to the manager, he moved us to an even nicer room with a view of the strip and complementary champagne.
