It dawned on me pretty quickly that I needed a space of my own.
When I suddenly found myself and my family cooped up inside the central air conditioning of our home, I knew I’d need some space.
I adore my family and that’s simply a fact. But when I was sent home from the commercial HVAC of the office to work remotely, I found a house full of people. We have four daughters who were all at home at the same time learning remotely. On top of that, my wife was sent home from the zone controlled HVAC of her office as well. Again, I love my girls and they are the center of my life. But when you’re the only dude in a house full of women, sometimes it’s best to have a place of your own. Normally, that had been a small home office inside the air conditioning of my home. But that space was now being shared with my wife as we were actively working remotely in order to keep our jobs. I was so pleased to realize that we were really good office mates. And I was also very thankful that all of our girls were pretty respectful of each other and the fact that this was an extraordinary situation. But still, I needed to utilize some space that was just mine. And the only place I could turn was the garage. So I had the HVAC company come out and install a ductless heat pump in my garage. That way I could be out there during the summer. Of course without air conditioning, that garage would have been uninhabitable.
