People skills are as pressing as technical skills

An pressing part of the task is conversing with the patrons who request the Heating & A/C repairs in the first arena

As a lecturer I worry a lot about this next generation of adults who are coming up right now. It seems like they have been massively affected by the influx of technology in our current world. I don’t understand how these youngsters are ever going to grow into real functioning adults when they are so reliant on cell cellphones, PCs, & the internet! Don’t get me wrong, I suppose that technology is seriously pressing & useful in many aspects of life. However, it has also trained our youngsters to be more adept at interacting with screens than other human beings. As a lecturer in the local heating, cooling, & ventilation certification program at our trade school I undoubtedly worry about the personal skills of our future Heating & A/C professionals. When my pupils graduate from the heating, cooling, & air quality control program they will be certified heating & cooling professionals who are technically capable of entering the air quality control industry immediately. They can get a task at any Heating & A/C maintenance shop as soon as they graduate. However, I’m distraught that they might have the practical skills to inspect, maintain, & diagnose Heating & A/C component however they seem to be lacking the personal skills to interact with residential Heating & A/C owners. An pressing part of the task is conversing with the patrons who request the Heating & A/C repairs in the first arena. If we have completely socially inept Heating & A/C professionals entering the workforce they’re going to have a strenuous time finding out what the air quality complaint is & collecting the bill at the end of the maintenance appointment. I don’t know if we’re making successful Heating & A/C techs, at that point.
