We watched the superbowl from a hotel when the furnace broke

My dad and mom are super big fans of football.

Each year, they must watch all the games, and start to root for their respective teams.

See, we aren’t a one team sort of family. We actually support three different teams and it’s always funny to see this play out each year. My team won the super bowl last year, and let’s just say it was so funny rubbing it in everyone’s face. Well, this year, things are different and mom and dad were up against each other. That weekend, we had planned to be at home, and enjoy the game together. No one was cooking so we’d order food and invite folks over. Unfortunately, those plans were put on hold because the furnace broke. Dad and mom called to say we had to find an alternative place to stay because there was no heating at the house. Plus, I had to call and tell folks there was no way to host them to watch the game. A friend owns a hotel in town, and she had the best idea. Instead of canceling, we could just move the event to the hotel. Her dining room was free, and she booked it for us for the day. We’d pay for food and drinks only. Dad and mom loved the idea because we’d all be together and enjoy the game in a room with heating. My job shifted from canceling invitations to alerting folks to the change of venue. It seems everyone had been looking forward to the gathering because they all agreed to show up at the hotel and enjoy the game.
