I have been an a/c serviceman with the local air conditioning company for a few years. Last year we got an opportunity to work with the government for a school initiative program. The governor called my colleagues and me into a meeting where he proposed having each government institution fitted with air purification systems to improve air quality. The meeting ran for three hours as we devised a strategy to meet his requirements. The meeting results were that HVAC installation would occur in the various institutions within a couple of weeks. The cooling industry would work together to ensure we met the governor’s requirements. We noted that some institutions had quality HVAC equipment while others did not. We started with the ones that had the units, and we carried out HVAC maintenance to ensure all was working well. We delegated some work to the rest of the teams, including the air conditioning technicians that handled the air conditioning repairs. We worked a lot with the air conditioning provider, where we got replacements for the worn-out parts and new equipment for installation. We planned new fittings for the institutions that did not have the units. Some of the equipment we worked with included the multi-split air conditioning unit and the heat pumps. Each institution had a functional thermostat to help adjust the temperature. The work went on for a month, and by the end of the second month, we had installed most units and repaired the broken-down ones. We also educated the institutions’ maintenance departs on more about air conditioning and air purification and how to care for the quality air conditioners they now had.
