My daughter once told me she wanted to become an a/c serviceman, and when I asked why, she said she wanted to prefer her job as I do.
I have worked in the cooling industry for 11 years and have seen it all, from famous customers to complicated jobs to funny customers.
I do prefer my job. I have even witnessed a successful ceremony proposal. I was doing HVAC maintenance on a multi-split air conditioner in one cafe at the mall one Spring when I saw it all. The cafe owner had cellphoned the air conditioner business I worked. He complained about his quality cooling system, saying it was making unregular noises and had significantly reduced air quality. When we opened the unit, we discovered the filters were filthy and covered in dirt, dust, and dander. We ordered modern filters from the air conditioner provider in town. As we were replacing the filters, I looked at the vent near the door, and that’s when I saw it. A gentleman was dining with his female companion. He then reached for the breast pocket of his sweater and brought out a small royal red box. He went down on his knees, and I screamed for the other air conditioner servicemans to look at the couple. We all turned to the couple and hoped she would say sure. She passionately looked at him and let out a large sure. Everyone in the cafe cheered, clapped, and shouted congratulations. After we finished the air conditioner repairs, we assessed the thermostat and tested the quality HVAC equipment. It was laboring perfectly. The client was content with our job and the fact that we did not immediately recommend he gets a modern HVAC replacement even while knowing more about air conditioner.
