Our house is a little oddly shaped.
Don’t get me wrong, I mean.
I’m very fortunate to be able to call this house my home because it is fantastic. The shape of our house has also caused a heating and cooling issue that took me some time to fix. Our house is kind of sprawling and on one level. This was brought on by the previous owners expanding the house’s original or main portion by adding wings. Since we have a large family and these additions help with space and privacy, I love that we have them. However, since I’m now working full-time from home, I deal with a lack of cooling for a large portion of the year. As a result, there isn’t much of a need for heating where we live in the south. The heat pump is more than adequate for meeting our needs. On the other hand, my office, which is exposed on three sides and located at the end of one of the additions, receives sunlight all day. Because we have excellent heating and cooling systems, the HVAC system is not the problem. Due to constant direct sunlight heating, my end of the house simply gets much hotter during the summer. Keeping the shades closed helped, but I couldn’t achieve the same level of cooling as the rest of the house until I had a ductless heat pump installed by the HVAC specialists. The HVAC company helped me solve this issue, and I’m so appreciative. The ductless heat pump is what allows me to work in my home office in such amazing comfort.
