The Other Person in my Hospital Recovery Room

Back at the end of May I had surgery.

I have been having a difficult time for several years, but for some reason the insurance company I have would not pay for the surgery. I think it is considered experimental or not standard practice or something like that. Anyway, eventually I decided that I would go ahead and pay in order to get the surgery done and relieve some of the pain I was having in my stomach area. Because I had to pay myself, I had to share a room with someone else. So the other person in my Hospital recovery room was so annoying because she took control of the air conditioning remote control and she set the thermostat as low as it would go. I was literally so cold that I was turning blue. One time a nurse came in and panicked because she thought I was not breathing. I told her I felt fine but I was just cold because of the roommate’s control of the AC. She agreed that it was freezing in there, and in fact the air conditioning was so cold that there was condensation on the window. I kept getting more and more blankets, and one nice Nurses Aide would take my blanket and put it in the blanket heater for me. It was so nice when she would bring me a blanket from the blanket heater. Eventually, the doctor said he was going to have me moved out of that room because he thought the excessive air conditioning was not helping my recovery. I was happy to move, of course, because who wants to be sharing a room in the hospital anyway? At that point, though, the roommate decided that she would turn the thermostat a bit warmer, so I was stuck in there with her the whole time.
