Last week my husband came home from work and told me that he was going to quit his job.
This immediately made me nervous as it would any wife.
I asked him to explain why he felt the need to leave his current job, the job market was bad enough as it is. He said he was tired of working for someone else and wanted to start his own business. I understand the want to set your own hours and make your own rules, but this just sounded really extreme. My husband said he wanted to start his own local heating and cooling business that was a reliable place for his friends and family to get their HVAC equipment services. The choice to open a HVAC company came as a shock to me because my husband has never expressed an interest in heating and cooling equipment before. To be completely honest I am not entirely sure he knows how to fix a HVAC system. He said that he would hire people to go out at actually fix the HVAC systems and we would run the day to day operations. I had many concerns with this idea and thought maybe he was having a midlife crisis. However, he put together a legit business plan and found reliable backers and employees so I think his idea is going to work out well. I just hope that he knows what he is doing, I don’t want him to wake up one day and regret his decision, but I guess only time will tell that.
